My Canoecraft Contest Winners!

Thank you for participating in Bear Mountain’s MY CANOECRAFT contest.

To say that Ted and I were moved by the responses we received would not come close to expressing our feelings as we read the stories and looked at the photos which were submitted to us. How lucky we are to have been a part of so many dreams.

It was too difficult for us to choose which stories to include in the new edition of Canoecraft and in effort to make things fair we left the choosing up to the publisher (Firefly Books). I think Pippa Kinnard was in touch with each of you to obtain permissions, addresses, etc.

Pippa and the editorial staff at Firefly made the final selections for the book. We have an idea of which stories they chose and the book is being printed now but with the publishing process there might be last minute changes……so It will be a surprise to all of us when the book is released in the spring of 2015.

Each person who sent in a story will receive a copy of the book from Firefly. In order to select the winners of the prizes, we invited our funny friend Kevin Callan also known as the Happy Camper - over to the workshop to help us.

We put all of your names into a container and Kevin drew the winners. We shot video of the proceedings with friends Denis Gagne, John Hendren and Doug Fisher making up the cheering section and keeping us organized.

Nick Offerman’s Canoecraft Companion DVD’s  will be sent to everyone who submitted a story with our thanks. Remember to visit to learn about what Nick is up to……..and of course to check up on Jimmy who shot the DVD for us.

Ted and I truly appreciate the effort each one of you took to make this new version of Canoecraft and as Ted says: You make us look good! I have no doubt that the stories will inspire new canoe building dreamers to get started!

With our very best wishes and sincere thanks………Joan and Ted
