Canoe Building DVD produced by Peterborough Company gets a boost on the Martha Stewart Show on HGTV Jan. 21/10

A how to DVD produced by Bear Mountain Boats and Nick Offerman the actor who stars in it will be part of a Woodworking Hour, which airs tomorrow on the Martha Stewart Show. Several famous woodworkers are featured on the show including Offerman who stars in NBC's new hit comedy show Parks and Recreation. Offerman will demonstrate how to make a canoe paddle on the show and will give out copies of the Bear Mountain DVD to the audience. Offerman, a woodworker in his spare time, made the DVD while he was building his first canoe using a kit and plans from Bear Mountain Boats. The DVD's producer Joan Barrett says that Nick was great to work with - 'while he had never built a canoe before he was able to inspire confidence and have fun at the same time'. The DVD was released in May 2010 and follows the book Canoecraft that was written by Bear Mountain's founder Ted Moores. Canoecraft has sold over 200,000 copies and has been used by amateur canoe builders worldwide to create their own boats.
