Build Your Own Scale Model Canoe with Brent Kirkham

This course covers the building process of a 4' scale model canoe, from selecting material through to finishing details. Not only do you leave the course with all the knowledge and "tricks of the trade" to build a full-size boat, but you also get to take your mini canoe to proudly display at home or the cottage.
Instructor Brent Kirkham has extensive experience as a canoe builder and woodworker, from mastering the finer details of decorative inlay to helping build 30' war canoes in our Bear Mountain workshop.
Run over five consecutive days, all tools, materials, and lunches are supplied.

-applying the first strip

-fairing the hull
-installing the outside stem
-Applying the outside cloth/epoxy
-fairing the inside hull
-installing the inside cloth/epoxy
- installing inside gunnels and decks

This workshop is offered twice in 2019 at our Westport location (362 County Rd 10, Westport, Ontario). The first session runs July 29-August 2, and the second runs September 9-13.

A variety of accommodations are available from simple to elegant bed and breakfasts, campgrounds, cottages and motels. The historic small village of Westport is situated on the historic Rideau Canal in eastern Ontario. There is lots to do including paddling, hiking and visiting local artisans and galleries.
