Canoe Building Workshops
PLEASE NOTE: the $250 charge listed above covers the DEPOSIT ONLY. The full balance of $1250 is due 45 days prior to the course start date.
What will I learn?
Ted Moores, master builder and author of Canoecraft, will guide a small group of five students through the building of a Ranger 15 or Freedom 17 canoe from start to finish. Along with trusted co-instructor Paul Price, Ted covers every aspect of the process from setting up the strongback to working with epoxy to installing trim. At the end of the seven-day, hands-on experience, interested students will draw straws for the chance to purchase the finished canoe at cost.
Who can attend?
Small craft building is a rewarding experience for people of all ages and abilities. Pride and patience are much more important than skill and previous experience. The only prerequisite is a desire to learn. Over the past 25 years of presenting workshops, we have worked with students from ages 13+, in combinations of family (child/parent/grandparent) and friends. If you would like a customized course for your group give us a call - we are quite flexible and can consider special requests from schools, clubs, etc.
Cost and Registration
Tuition for the seven-day workshop at Bear Mountain Boat Shop is $1250 (US). Please note the initial $250 deposit is required to reserve your spot, with the full balance due 45 days prior to the course start date.
